The Christmas Stocking

These are the Christmas stockings I made for my Family, my youngest stepson got a Spongebob stocking.

My husband got a Superman stocking with a cape, my husband is a very big Superman fan, so I thought about great detail, and hoped the cape would make it ever more special.

This is the back of the Superman stocking, I put the cape on so it would be more on the back side, so you still can see the symbol on the front.

My oldest stepson got a Spiderman stocking. First I thought about putting on the eyes only, but then I went with the spider symbol instead, but there is always next Christmas. ;)

For me, I was less creative. I didn't really know what I should crochet for my Christmas stocking, so I just made a simple german flag stocking.

The Flash - Reverse Flash Pillow

For the other nephew of my co-worker I made this Flash pillow.

It is also double edged with yellow on the Flash side and red on the Reverse Flash side.

It was the first time I heard of the reversed Flash, and I always watched the show as I was little. But it is pretty easy, it is just reversed colors, and I think it looks pretty rocking awesome. :)

The Green Lantern Pillow

This is a pretty easy and simple pillow for a co-workers nephew.

The pillow has a double edge (green-black).

The back side is plain black since the Green Lantern has some black on his suit.

The Spiderman Pillow

This pillow is for my oldest stepson, he is a huge Spiderman fan, more of the black one, or Venom, then the nice red suited Spidey.

So I made one side red, and the other black, since the red suited hero has some blue on him, I thought of blue edging.

I also wanted the pillow to have something to play with, so I attached a spider that could have bit Peter Parker and turned him.

I call the spider "Fred", Fred the friendly spider. I attached him with white crocheted, sparkle yarn that sorta looks like a spider web. Fred can stand on his 8 legs and has tiny little black eyes.

The Princess Pillow Lizzy

This sweet looking Princess came together after I showed the Spongebob around at work, and a co-worker asked me if I could make a Princess for her 2 year old niece. Since a Princess is not at all a square I had to invent a whole new pattern as I went further along, it kind of came together.

I call this Princess "Elisabeth", "Lizzy" for short. She has a hat and a crown, puffy sleeves like the Disney Princesses, and a name across her butt. She took me about 2 weekends and a couple of hours during the week, the hardest thing was putting everything together.

I even attached hair because I am sure little girls like to play with hair just as much as I do. I know I said I wouldn't make another one of these unless I was asked to, but I think I might make a Princess with a blue dress, brown eyes and dark hair. Stay tuned for that Princess Pillow, which probably will be on www.etsy.com/shop/dunawaycrafts .

The Spongebob Pillow Pal

Recently my step sons had to move away, and since I hope they are coming to visit us over the Christmas holidays I have been thinking of crocheting them something. I think handmade items say so much more then store bought things. Everybody can go out and buy something, but to sit down, take time and make something that truly comes from the heart, it is so rare these days.

As you can see it is a Spongebob, my youngest step son is a big fan of this yellow squared underwater monster, so I thought I will make him a pillow pal. It isn't really hard to make a Spongebob, since he is a square with pants.

The eyes, eyelashes, mouth, teeth, and tie was not that hard to crochet, the feet and arms, well, I took those from my doll patterns, and they fit.

Then I sewed everything together and stuffed him with polyester fiber. He is bigger then I thought, which I guess is good since it is supposed to be a pillow.

Look at this face! Who could not love this handmade pillow pal?

Superman / Supergirl thing...

After making molds from some of my buttons for ear rings or hair clips, I thought I take my husbands Superman necklace and make a mold from that.

Now I have some Superman ear rings, or Supergirl ear rings, since it is a girl thing, and Superman or Supergirl hair clips.

I have sold on etsy.com 2 of the hair clips and a set or ear rings. I was really excited :)

The Smiley Set

I had some smiley buttons and thought I could make put those on a hair clip too, which led to making a bow and some little flowers and of course some ear rings had to follow.

This is the complete set, and it does bring smiles to other faces, at least where I work at.

The Black Vail Brides ear rings

A co-worker asked me if I could make her sister special ear rings of her favorite group, I told her if I don't have anything to make a mold out of probably not. So I tried to make a sign of them myself, out of playdough.

I think they don't look bad, what do you think? Her sister loves them, by the way.

Show some SPIRIT!!!

I thought of next years NBA Champion Chip and thought I would create my own ear rings to show my support. So I made a little sign out of playdough, so I could make a mold from it, to make several different things. Here are some things I have made so far.

For Dirk's team (germans have to stick together) I made some ear rings (haven't gotten around to painting them yet) and a sign I will put on my Maverick hair bow.

Since I also like the Lakers, here is a set of ear rings and again, a sign I will put on a hair clip.

I made them out of resin and painted them, then sprayed them so the paint wouldn't come off, and I already have gotten some comments about them. Some of them were good, and some of them were against the Lakers, well, can't make everybody happy.

The Ear Rings

I figured if I can make my own buttons, I can make my own ear rings, and here are some of them.

These ones were the first I have made, and then the Super-sign, for man or girl!

The Hello Kitty Bow

Sine I couldn't find a smaller Hello Kitty to make a mold of, I decided to make a mold from my Hello Kitty PEZ.

I painted the head with acrylic paint, since that was the only paint I had laying around the house. After I had painted it, was thinking, how would I stop the paint from coming off the head? Now I doubt that anybody would jump in the pool with the bow in their hair, but if I do make buttons and sew those on sweaters, those would have to get washed eventually.

So I looked around JoAnns and found Acrylic Coating, where the spray paints were. I tried that out and washed the Hello Kitty face. The paint won't come off, and I think the acrylic coating made the face shiny. Now the button making can begin.

The around the world Bows

As I was crocheting the American Hair Clip for the 4th of July, I thought I could make a German Hair Clip to represent my own nationality. Afterwards I thought, why stop there? I know many people around the world, that is how the French Bow came to life, and the Japanese bow. I am looking into making other nationality bows too. The italian, spanish, irish, and dominican republican flag are soon to come.

The Ladybug Hair Clip Set

This Hair Clip Set consists of 2 snap clips and 1 alligator clip.

I crocheted purple and white flowers, and sewed a big Ladybug onto the flowers meant for the alligator clip, and 2 small Ladybugs for the snap clips. I added leafs to the bigger Ladybug flower to cover the alligator clip completely.

Once again I hot glued the clips to the crochet flowers on the back.

The Patriotic Hair Accessories

I crocheted these Hair Clips with the 4th of July in my mind.

The bow has a alligator clip hot glued to it and the flowers have snap clips.

The Head Band is also crocheted in the honor of the 4th of July, and I'm thinking of another version of this Head Band with crochet Stars instead of buttons.

The Skull Hair Band

I was asked to make a Skull Hair Band instead of a Hair Clip that I had made at a previous time.

The Hair Band matches the black hair and will be coordinated with a black bikini, so I have been told.

I used double crochet stitch for this band, sew on buttons for adjustability, and coordinated all the colors to black and white.

The Soccer Sweater/Cardigan

This is my second sweater, it is meant for a boy of 12-18 months.

Since this boy is a european boy, I embellished the sweater with a soccer ball theme. I put 4 buttons in the front, unlike the 3 buttons for the girl sweater, since this one is a little bigger.

I also put a soccer ball on the front, but in the lower corner because it was bigger then the flower on the girls sweater. I am thinking of making a beanie that goes along with this sweater and also will have the soccer ball applique.

The Bow

I tried to make a very simple bow hair clip, I'm sure I will try out more different things with this, but this is my first.

Of course it is Mavericks colors, gotta support that team!

I hot glued it unto the clip, I like this one better then the snap clip. It is perfect since the bow is much bigger then the flower clip.
